Entertainment

What TV shows did you watch as a kid?

I’m currently watching Fit for TV.

It is interesting to look back at programmes we watched as kids. I remember hating how humiliating The Biggest Loser was for the people but thinking that it was their last chance to try something radical and yes they are loosing weight. They needed that huge push and most importantly they chose to sign up for it !

Mental Health was not a thing back then. It was all about entertainment.

I enjoyed Jillian Michaels but I would hate her as my instructor. I would not appreciate anyone shouting at me, I’d probably punch her. However, I enjoyed doing her workouts, from home, no shouting, all at my own pace.

X-Factor – I watched it like everyone else but I hated when they were mean to people or made fun of acts – just for entertainment. That is when I would leave the room. I felt that. I didn’t understand how it didn’t seem to bother anyone else.

I loved when The Voice started, that was a lovely show where it was more about the person and their talent and not just entertainment.

It is great to see the shift in entertainment from cruel entertainment to being aware of peoples mental health.

But going further back – I enjoyed Fraggle Rock, Pippi Longstocking, Earthworm Jim !
