Dogs are the Best Pets :)

Daily writing prompt
Dogs or cats?

Ask any pet lover the age-old question — “Dogs or cats?” — and they’ll get passionate answers on both sides.

For me: I love dogs.

They’ve stolen my heart with their wagging tails, unshakable loyalty, and that energy that somehow brings life into even the quietest room.

1. Unmatched Loyalty

Dogs don’t just love you — they devote themselves to you. They greet you like you’ve been gone for a year, even if you just stepped outside to get the mail.

2. Endless Energy

Whether it’s a zoomie across the living room or a happy dance when it’s time for a walk, dogs bring this joyful energy that’s honestly contagious. Even on bad days, their wagging tails give me a reason to smile — and maybe even move my own body too.

3. Cuddles

There’s something incredibly comforting about a dog snuggling into you like you’re their whole world. They’re soft, warm, and they don’t care what you look like — they just want to be close.

4. Companionship That Heals

For those of us living with chronic pain or emotional ups and downs, dogs have a way of sensing when we’re off. They don’t ask for explanations. They just show up, quietly sitting next to us or offering their paw as if to say, “I’m here.”

5. They Get You Outside

Rain or shine, they need to go out — and weirdly, that keeps me going too. A walk with a dog isn’t just exercise, it’s a ritual. A routine. A way to be present.

But What About Cats?

Don’t get me wrong — cats are majestic, graceful, and full of mystery. I can absolutely see why people adore their quiet independence. And honestly, I do have a soft spot for kittens. But as much as I admire them, I’m also a bird lover — and let’s be real, cats and birds just don’t mix well. So while I appreciate cats from afar, they’re not the right fit for my home (or my feathered friends!).

“Dogs do speak, but only to those who know how to listen.”

Dogs are loyal, affectionate, and bursting with love. They ask for so little but give so much. While I’ll always admire cats from afar, dogs are the companions that match my energy, my softness, and my need for connection.

So yes — I’m a proud dog person.
