The Best (and Hardest) Decision We Ever Made
A few years ago, we made a huge decision — one that completely changed our lives. We sold our beautiful home in the countryside. It was the kind of place people dream of — peaceful, scenic, full of charm. But behind all that beauty was something heavier: isolation.
It was tough.
That house held so many memories.
But deep down, we knew it wasn’t sustainable — not for the life we wanted to build, and not for the future we were facing.
Living with back pain meant thinking ahead.
I thought maybe my condition would likely worsen, and being so far from everything was making everyday life harder. We needed to be somewhere more accessible — where we could walk (or use a wheelchair, if it comes to that), be close to shops, doctors, schools, parks… and people.
We needed community.
So we took the leap.
We moved to a busier town, where everything is on our doorstep.
It was a massive change, but the right one.
And honestly? The best decision we’ve ever made.
Since moving, we’ve learned so much about ourselves. About what really matters. We’ve learned to let go of the idea that
“perfect”
means picturesque — and instead embrace
“perfect for us.”
We’ve built a life that works with our needs, not against them. One filled with more connection, more ease, more possibilities.
And we’re happier. Healthier. Stronger.
Sometimes the right path isn’t the easiest — but it’s the one that leads you home.
Journal Prompt:
Think of a big decision you’ve made in the past — one that felt scary or uncertain at the time. What did you learn from it? How did it help you grow, and what would you tell your past self now?
