Concentration Camps
I know people who’ve saved for years, planned the trip, and felt drawn to visit concentration camps — to witness history, to honour lives lost, to understand the depth of what happened. And I respect that completely.
But for me, I know I’ll never go.
I’ve read the books, seen the documentaries, watched the films, studied the history. And even from a distance, it breaks my heart.
The weight of it, the cruelty, the unimaginable suffering — it’s already in me. I carry that ache whenever I think about it.
Standing there in person? The heartbreak !
It’s not about avoidance or denial.
I remember, I honour, and I will never forget — just from afar. Also for them, they didn’t have the chance to choose. They were taken, forced, silenced.
We can choose. And in my choice, I carry their memory with compassion, and heartbreak — always.
Especially now, when the fear of history repeating itself feels all too real.
Remembering matters.
Speaking up matters.
Choosing kindness matters.
Such a Heavy Prompt Today… So Let’s Lighten the Load
Today’s reflection was heavy — full of heartbreak, history, and hard truths. So if you’re carrying some of that weight with you now, take a deep breath.
And then… go do a small, quiet, beautiful thing.
A random act of kindness.
Text someone just to say you’re thinking of them.
Make a cup of tea for someone.
Compliment a stranger.
Smile at the person behind the counter.
Hold the door.
Leave a kind note.
Donate, if you can.
Listen, really listen.
Kindness doesn’t erase pain — but it softens the edges.
It’s a gentle reminder that even in a world that has seen so much darkness, we can still choose light.
Go be the light today.
Have a Great Day 🙂
