Understanding Our Attachment to Brands

Why Do We Feel So Attached to Big Brands?

I’ve always found it interesting how people get really attached to certain big brands. You know, those logos we see everywhere—whether it’s clothing, technology, or even food. It’s like they’re more than just products to some people, almost like badges of identity. I don’t necessarily get it, but I think it’s a fascinating phenomenon.

It’s not that I’m anti-brand. I just wonder why so many of us feel the need to show loyalty to companies that we don’t really know. Maybe it’s because brands offer a sense of familiarity or security. Or maybe they represent something we want to align ourselves with—like quality, innovation, or even a lifestyle we aspire to have. There’s nothing wrong with that. I’m just curious.

At the end of the day, I think it’s about finding meaning in the things we choose to support. And if a brand makes someone feel connected or good, then that’s perfectly fine. We all have our preferences and reasons for them, even if they’re not always obvious to others. It’s all part of what makes us unique!

M.E Journals is more than just a name/brand; it’s my safe space to express myself without feeling exposed. As someone who’s naturally shy, introverted and private, using a brand name like this lets me share my thoughts and creativity without the pressure of being front and center. It gives me the freedom to put my ideas out there while keeping a little bit of privacy, allowing my voice to be heard in a way that feels comfortable and authentic to me.
