A prosthesis is an artificial object that replaces a limb or a part of the body. In terms of dentistry, this would mean the production of dentures, crowns and bridges.

Prosthodontists work closely with dental technicians, who are the ones actually manufacturing prostheses. A prosthodontist’s job is to take impressions of the patient’s teeth and design where and how the prostheses should be placed, and then refer these to the technician for production.

Current skillset:

  • Impression-taking
  • Designing and constructing removable partial dentures
  • Designing and construction complete dentures
