Conservative dentistry is the branch of dentistry concerned with preserving diseased teeth in the mouth, i.e. not extracting them out.
Tooth A has decay. Instead of extracting poor little Tooth A, the dentist uses a drill to take out the decayed bits and fills it up with a metallic silver filling called amalgam. The tooth remains in the mouth and there is no more decay and pain.
