The camera that went swimming…by accident.

So, I brought a camera to school. Dad's camera, in fact. Creative Club and I were working on something and I wanted to capture the process.

Then I went to change. And in the process, the camera - rolled out of my pocket. It hit the floor, and the battery + memory card flew out. Before I could blink, it hit the toilet bowl, and, to my horror, SLID INTO THE GODDAMN HOLE WITH A SPLASH AND A THUNK.

That was the time when I WISHED EVERYTHING WAS ALL A DREAM. For a few seconds I stood there, unable to accept that what we girls have been joking around (aka stuff falling into the toilet hole) became true. And to me, of all people. I peered inside - the hole was deep, there was no way my hand was long enough to reach, and, damn, I had no intention of sliding my hand into that place.

I had my friend stand guard at that particular cubicle to make sure no one would use the toilet and flush it, then went to find someone - anyone - who could help. So I went to find some dude who lent me a metal hook.

Then, headed back to the toilet and tried to fish it out - it took no difficulties since my camera had a string attached to it. GOD, WHAT DO THESE GIRLS THROW INTO THE TOILET BOWL THESE DAYS!? It was...ugh. I had no choice but to put it under the running water to get all the...stuff...away. NO CHOICE. I knew I was only going to increase the chances of it getting fried, but it was just so...oh crap I don't even have words to describe it.

It was a long day. When I went home, I immediately sat down and began mission impossible :

I aimed the hairdryer into the battery + memory card section. When those parts were dry, I tried to turn on the camera. Then, I realized that the lens part + deep parts inside probably still had some water residing within. The camera turned on, then jammed. Yi Xian said, the, circuits, most, probably, got, fried...Now that I think about it, I should have removed the camera casing and do a thorough blow of the innards instead of just blowdrying the battery + memory card section.

Too late to do anything about it, though. If its fried, then I can only repair / buy a new one. The worst thing? No idea how to tell my dad. If only this camera was mine. God knows how much the repair cost would be, if it surpasses the original price, then I might as well buy a new one...
